Our amazing bodies can withstand almost anything we encounter in our everyday lives.
Did you know that the adult body is composed of approximately 37.2 trillion cells, each with a specific role and function? What’s even more remarkable is that these cells are replaced constantly, with about 300 million new cells being born every minute!
The human brain is often referred to as the most powerful supercomputer as it contains around 86 billion neurons, which can create more connections than there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
The human eye is capable of distinguishing between approximately 10 million different colors, making it one of the most intricate and precise sensory organs in existence.
Our bodies give us so much and they will let us know if they need something or if something is wrong. We just have to be willing to listen.
Listening to your body
Your body often sends signals and cues about its needs and limitations. Paying attention to these signals can prevent physical and mental health issues.
Whether it’s recognizing hunger, thirst, fatigue, pain, or emotional stress, tuning in to your body’s messages helps you make informed choices about nutrition, rest, exercise, and stress management.
To listen to your body effectively, start by being mindful and present in your daily life. Pay attention to physical sensations and emotions, and take time to rest when you’re tired, eat when you’re hungry, and hydrate when you’re thirsty.
Regularly practicing meditation, yoga, or other relaxation techniques can enhance your mind-body connection.

One of my favorite ways to practice self-care is by dry brushing and relaxing in a detoxing bath of epsom salts, chamomile flowers, apple cider vinegar, and coconut oil. I am not one to just sit and relax so for me, these detoxing baths are a must. It’s a time for me to slow down, meditate, and reflect on how I feel and what I need.
It’s so important to take a day off to do something you enjoy. Doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s relaxing and you feel refreshed. If you can’t take a day off, take an hour or two a week to have some ‘me time’. Your body will thank you.

Eat real food
Real food is homegrown, cage-free, and caught in the wild. It’s unprocessed, organic, chemical, and GMO-free. It’s what our grandparent’s grandparents used to call food.
Real foods, such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and nuts, provide the body with essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber that are necessary for optimal functioning.
Unlike processed or highly refined foods, real foods are free from artificial additives, excessive sugar, unhealthy fats, and preservatives that can contribute to health problems like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
I believe balance is everything. It’s not going to hurt you to eat something unhealthy every once in a while, but if that’s all you’re eating, your body will suffer.
Real foods are more satisfying and can help control appetite, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight. By choosing real food over processed alternatives, you not only nourish your body but also support sustainable farming practices and reduce your environmental footprint.

A typical balanced diet includes a mix of fruits and vegetables, which supply vitamins, minerals, and fiber, as well as lean proteins like poultry, fish, and beans for muscle health.
Whole grains offer complex carbohydrates for sustained energy, while dairy or dairy alternatives provide calcium for strong bones. Healthy fats from sources like avocados and nuts support various bodily functions.
By consuming these real foods in appropriate proportions, you not only ensure that your body receives the necessary nutrients but also reduce the risk of chronic diseases, maintain a healthy weight, and improve your overall quality of life.
Opt for natural products
The importance of using non-toxic cleaning products in your home for overall health cannot be overstated. Many conventional cleaning products contain a cocktail of harsh chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and synthetic fragrances, which can release toxins into the air and leave chemical residues on surfaces.
Prolonged exposure to these toxins can lead to a range of health issues, including respiratory problems, skin irritations, and even more severe conditions in the long term.
Look for natural cleaners or make homemade laundry detergent and all-purpose cleaners.
By opting for non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaning alternatives, you reduce the risk of indoor air pollution and chemical exposure, making your home a safer and healthier environment for you and your family.
Conventional skincare products often contain a plethora of synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and potentially harmful preservatives that can be absorbed by your skin and enter your bloodstream, potentially causing adverse effects over time.
Natural skincare products, on the other hand, are typically made from plant-based ingredients, free from harmful additives and harsh chemicals. They offer the benefits of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, which can nourish and rejuvenate your skin without the risk of irritation or long-term health concerns.

Get Outdoors
Getting out in nature is a powerful tonic for both mental and physical health. The natural world provides a respite from the stress and demands of modern life, allowing for relaxation, reduced anxiety, and improved mood.
Exposure to natural settings has been shown to lower cortisol levels, the body’s stress hormone, and boost the production of endorphins, the “feel-good” chemicals, promoting an overall sense of well-being.
Spending time outdoors encourages physical activity, whether it’s hiking, biking, or simply taking a leisurely walk, which can lead to improved cardiovascular health, increased fitness, and reduced risks of chronic diseases.
Breathing in fresh air and absorbing natural sunlight helps the body produce essential vitamins, particularly vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health and immune function.
Grounding or Earthing is done by walking barefoot on the grass and soil. Having direct contact with the earth in this way stabilizes the body’s basic biological rhythms.
The earth has a mild negative charge, and our bodies through modern living build up a positive charge. When we come into contact with the earth through earthing/grounding it brings out a positive chargeback to a neutral position. Having a positive charge can lead to many health problems. It also normalizes serotonin levels and decreases cortisol which is an anxiety-inducing hormone.
Our bodies come from the earth, so it just makes sense that living naturally would be extremely beneficial to our overall health.
Disclaimer:

I loved this! Our bodies really are amazing and are easily the thing us humans take for granted the MOST! The facts you listed at the top are fantastic, I didn’t know any of those aside from the one regarding the liver regenerating itself. Absolutely fascinating.
I’ve been really wanting to start trying to walk barefoot on grass and keep forgetting, you just reminded me again to get doing this A LOT more often than I do now… Which is not at all ha ha.
